Freestyle is also a set of vocabulary very specific to this discipline :

- A flip: It is a jump in ski or snowboard with a vertical rotation. We speak of backflip for a backward rotation and frontflip for a forward rotation.

- A grab : Consists in seizing or catching with its hand an end of the ski or the board during a jump. 

- A halfpipe : It is a half-tube of snow that can be found in some large snowparks in resorts where freestylers can perform several tricks and impressive jumps.

- A trick : decides the whole of the figures realized in freestyle

- Snowpark : It is a specific area dedicated to the practice of freestyle in resort with big airs and different modules like boxes or rails

- Big air : big ramp of snow allowing to make big jumps

- Boxes / rails : These are slopestyle modules for freestyle skiing or snowboarding

- 180° : To make a jump with a horizontal half-turn

- 360° or the 3°6 : Perform a jump with a complete horizontal turn.

- 720° : Perform a jump with a double complete horizontal turn.
